3. Tanner Gentry continues to impress

Tanner Gentry came to the Bears a year ago as an undrafted free agent out of Wyoming. From the first moments we saw him during training camp, we knew the Bears may have found themselves a gem. As a rookie, he put together a very solid training camp. Somehow, though, he only ended up on the practice squad in 2017 — even with the miserable group of wideouts he was surrounded by.

Whenever we saw Gentry last year, whether it was in training camp or game action, he looked very good. Gentry only appeared in a few regular season games last year, but he did have a huge touchdown in the preseason against the Tennessee Titans which most fans will remember.

Thursday night, Gentry made a nice catch and run for what appeared to be a touchdown, although he was down prior to the run after.

Just seconds later, however, Gentry made up for it and caught a touchdown. Either way, the kid looks like an NFL wide receiver. He always has. Even last year, it was obvious that Gentry belonged in the NFL.

The question is, will the Bears give him a roster spot over the likes of Josh Bellamy? That could end up being his biggest competition when it’s all said and done, especially because the performance of this next guy should keep him around for a while.
