Now that the 2018 MLB trade deadline has passed, the Chicago Cubs have some questions to answer going into the second half of the season.

Ah, yes, the drama is over. The 2018 MLB trade deadline has officially passed and the Chicago Cubs are now more well-equipped going forward — at least, that’s the hope.

The Cubs made a few moves prior to the deadline, first acquiring reliever Jesse Chavez from the Texas Rangers. Chaves gives the Cubs a guy with experience both as a starter and a bullpen arm, which Joe Maddon should feel good about as we approach the postseason. It’s great to have someone versatile in where they can be used.

Following the Chavez addition, the Cubs landed 4-time All Star and former World Series MVP Cole Hamels, also from the Rangers. Hamels comes in and will immediately be a significant part of the starting rotation, which has seen its share of struggles this year.

Last, the Cubs grabbed Brandon Kintzler from the Washington Nationals right before the buzzer on Tuesday. Kintzler comes to the Cubs as another relief arm who will provide a consistent, steady presence in the bullpen.

Now that the deadline has passed, all the focus shifts to what the Cubs will do on the field going forward. There are still so many questions surrounding this team, but I try to focus on just five. Going into the thick of the second half, here are five big-time questions that need answers.
