Chicago Cubs Rumors: Latest pair of trade targets prior to deadline
By Ryan Heckman
As we are just one day away from the 2018 MLB trade deadline, more Chicago Cubs rumors are swirling. We have the latest potential targets.
The mill never sleeps. Chicago Cubs rumors continue to fly around as we are now just a day away from the 2018 trade deadline. Already, the Cubs have made a couple of moves with the Texas Rangers. Could there be more to come?
It started when the Cubs made a deal to acquire veteran pitcher Jesse Chavez. The former Rangers arm has experience in both starting and coming out of the bullpen, and has been around for a while. The Cubs looked at his skillset as something fairly valuable for a World Series run.
In his first five appearances with the Cubs, Chavez has pitched a total of eight innings — all of them have been shutout baseball.
Following the Chavez move, the Cubs traded for four-time All Star Cole Hamels. Prior to the trade, Hamels had been struggling in July, giving up 25 total runs in his last four starts. The Cubs, and Hamels, are hoping those struggles can be put in the rearview.
Now, many might think the Cubs are done. But, they could have one or two moves left in them.
Could another starting pitcher be added to the rotation? That would be something, wouldn’t it? At the moment, there are two big names linked to the Cubs via Bruce Levine of 670 TheScore, but neither are starting pitchers.
Let’s take a look at the two pitchers linked to the Cubs, thanks to Levine.
