Chicago Bears: Buying or selling top storylines out of training camp
Mitch Trubisky’s “inconsistencies” in camp a major concern?
Selling
Fans have big expectations for this Bears offense with the added weapons and Mitch Trubisky coming into his second year. While Trubisky has flashed somewhat in training camp, he also has struggled quite a bit. Accuracy issues in the pocket have been one of the main concerns.
Some throws have been off target. On the other hand, Trubisky has flashed his arm talent. That has been the common frequency of Trubisky’s throws. He will look all-world one play and the very next look like a guy with limited starting experience.
Fans have to remember that Trubisky is still a young quarterback that is developing. It’s easy to get caught up in the Jared Goff comparisons. Yet people fail to miss that Goff had more career starts in college than Trubisky. The same can be applied to other young quarterbacks he has been compared to, Carson Wentz and Deshaun Watson.
There’s no denying Trubisky’s talent as a quarterback. He has the total package of accuracy, arm power, and athleticism outside the pocket. However, coming into his second year learning a new complex system, I have no doubt Trubisky will be a very good quarterback in this league, but it will take some time to get there.
