It’s not shocking to hear that the defense is well ahead of the offense at this point in camp. The Bears’ offense is once again installing a whole new offensive scheme under new coach Matt Nagy. Yes, some of these players are familiar with the west coast system, but this one is beefed up with spread concepts.
On the other hand, the defense is entering year three under defensive coordinator Vic Fangio’s 3-4 defense. Like Nagy on the offensive side, Fangio is very complex in looks he throws at opposing offenses. He’s one of the better defensive coordinators in the league over the past five-to-ten years.
For the offense, it’s beneficial that they are getting a tough test this early in the year. They won’t face too many defenses as tough as the one Fangio is throwing at them in Bourbonnais. So you shouldn’t be concerned with the offense’s slow, gradual development.
Let’s take a look at a few key stories coming out of camp and whether you should buy or sell each one.
