Chicago Cubs Rumors: Trade interest growing for these 3 pitchers
By Ryan Heckman
Brad Ziegler, Miami Marlins
Like I previously stated, the Marlins could end up selling more than just one arm at the deadline. One of the other names who appears to be gathering a market as of late is right-handed Brad Ziegler.
The 10-year veteran is certainly no spring chicken at the age of 38 years old, but he is definitely a name worth considering.
On the season, Ziegler has an ERA of 4.11 with a record of 1-5 and 10 saves. In 50.1 innings pitched, Ziegler has 35 strikeouts to just 16 walks. He had a rough start to the season, beginning with an ERA of 13.50 in his first two appearances on the year — against these Cubs.
April was a bit better, as he saw his ERA dip to 5.40 on the month. But, in May, he held an ERA of 8.71. He had been somewhat all over the place to start the year, but has since settled down a bit.
In his last 26.4 innings pitched, Ziegler has only given up three runs total — this all coming within June and July. In those months, Ziegler has 20 strikeouts as opposed to 10 walks. He has only given up multiple hits in two games during that span as well.
If the Cubs cannot come up with Conley or some of the other rumored targets of late, Ziegler would be a great addition.
