Safety Brandon Bryant

This year is the year for teams to dip into the supplemental draft for DB’s. Bryant is the second of three big names to look for.

Similarly to Alexander, Bryant showed some regression from a hot first season at Mississippi State. That could be attested to the pressure of replicating freshman years success. He had some legal problems with a DUI in January of 2017, which may have led to regression. For what it’s worth, he has a pair of wheels (allegedly among the best in the nation).

Strengths: The former Bulldog is a great athlete. Also, like Alexander, he is very willing to come down light it up in the ground game. The difference is that he’s a far better tackler. When he does come down to help, he won’t hesitate to lay the wood. He had five picks and seven passes broken up in three years, displaying hints of ball skills.

Weaknesses: Unfortunately for Bryant, he doesn’t have the size to be an NFL safety (six feet, 215 pounds). This could limit him to sub packages or just Special Teams alone. The off-field stuff doesn’t really help his image. He doesn’t flash in coverage the same way he does in run support. In today’s NFL, that would make it a challenge for him to find snaps.
