As the 2018 NBA Free Agency period gets underway, let’s take a look at someone who Chicago Bulls fans may not appreciate as much as they should.

The NBA free agency period is just kicking off and we’re all in for a wild ride. LeBron James has been dominating the headlines, while there are several other big names who are also on the market. The Chicago Bulls in all likelihood will be sitting on their hands during this time, but that doesn’t mean they should do nothing.

In year two of the rebuild, making shrewd transactions is the key to success this summer. This can be in the form of one-year vet fliers or short-term rehab projects. The Bulls have been linked to a handful of free agents like Rodney Hood, Marcus Smart, and Jabari Parker. Not to mention some trade rumors (Lonzo Ball).

While the later is extremely unlikely, the most important thing GarPax needs to do is not clog the books. There may be a contract extension with Bobby Portis on the horizon, but it probably won’t be too expensive. Also, regardless of cost, it won’t kick in until after next season when his rookie deal expires.

Zach LaVine is the key to their summer, but no one really knows what his market is.
The Bulls front office is doing what Chicago Bears GM Ryan Pace did for cornerback Kyle Fuller: Let the player establish his price. It gets interesting since the Sacramento Kings showed interest but how much he gets offered is a different story altogether.

However, LaVine isn’t the only restricted free agent the Bulls have. He is seen as the priority, but there’s another that surely demands attention — someone that flies under the radar. Maybe he’s someone who casual NBA fans wouldn’t know much (if anything) about

That distinction falls to David Nwaba.
