Chicago Bulls: 5 teams who could pry away Zach LaVine
By Ryan Heckman
With a recent report stating that the Chicago Bulls will not match any deal for Zach LaVine, we take a look at five teams who could make a sizable offer.
Well, well, well. Look at what we have here. After reports stating that the Chicago Bulls were prepared to match any offer for swingman Zach LaVine, it appears as though the tides have turned. Now, the most recent report suggests the Bulls will play a “wait-and-see” type of game with LaVine.
After everything myself and others here at Da Windy City have said, it looks as though the Bulls’ front office has finally had some sense knocked into them. LaVine is most definitely not worth a max contract. But, would other teams be willing to overpay? Absolutely! This is the NBA we are talking about, where teams overspend every single summer.
Which teams will venture to pay LaVine a bit more than he is worth, though? I’m sure he isn’t at the forefront of every team’s free agency planning; more so an afterthought or a “Plan B.” Remember when the Bulls somewhat fell into signing Carlos Boozer once upon a time? Think of a similar scenario with LaVine.
He isn’t an All Star player. He isn’t a superstar, nor do I think he’ll ever be one. But, he is a good player overall and someone worth bringing aboard now that he’s healthy — just not at a max-level contract, or anything close to it.
Let’s take a look at some teams that could end up extending an offer to LaVine in July and why it would make sense for them to do so.
