Chicago Bears: 5 early predictions for training camp
By Ryan Heckman
Adam Shaheen shows us how good he really is
If there was ever a head coach who could ruin a rookie quarterback, rookie running back and rookie tight end, it was Fox — and he certainly did his best at that. As Adam Shaheen comes into his second year, I see him taking a gigantic step forward.
First of all, Shaheen was not on the field as much as he should have been. It’s almost as if Fox didn’t trust rookies — shocker. As the season came down its final stretch, you finally saw Shaheen getting in on the action and providing some great moments for the Bears. Take a look at this nifty play, courtesy of a fellow Bears fan:
Shaheen’s speed is underrated, and that’s one thing I see him showing off a bit more under Nagy. One of my favorite things about Nagy is that he knows how to scheme players open. There will be times where you see Shaheen open by design and a whole lot of running room — just wait.

In camp, I see Shaheen’s development skyrocketing due to a couple of things. First, it’s his second year in the league. Obviously, the trope here is that the game “should slow down” a bit for Shaheen. Second, and I already touched on this, the coaching is a full 180 degrees from where it was a year ago. Third, Trey Burton‘s presence will help in a big way. Burton will demand attention if both are on the field together and he will also push Shaheen in camp.
