Anthony Miller locks down starting spot

Most likely, Anthony Miller will be playing in the slot, and during training camp we will see him firmly cement his spot as the go-to guy there. Miller has the ability to line up anywhere, and believe me, Nagy will be mixing it up constantly. But, Miller is as good as it gets in the slot.

At Memphis, Miller was arguably the nation’s top slot receiver. One could make a case for Christian Kirk, but Miller was solely a wideout and not a special teams stud. He crafted his game at his position in a way where you knew you’d have your hands full trying to defend him. He wants you to know he’s the hardest-working player on the field.

In 2017, Miller represented just over a rating of 149 when he was targeted. That’s darn-near perfect whether we’re talking college or the NFL. Looking at Mitchell Trubisky as a rookie, he formed a quick relationship with Kendall Wright — his favorite slot receiver. We saw countless times where Wright would be used as somewhat of a security blanket and make a play when Trubisky saw him as the best available option.

Now, Miller is a huge upgrade at the position. Don’t get me wrong. Wright is a good football player, but Miller has the potential to be great, and real soon. While some may say Taylor Gabriel should be seen in the slot, actually, he will likely be the no. 2 guy opposite Allen Robinson, on the outside. Miller is best-suited inside and Gabriel has actually done well on the outside when used in the past.
