Run on Point Guards

I realize I just got finished hypothesizing whether Luka Doncic could fall to no. 7. However, the NBA Draft is extremely unpredictable. Therefore, it would not be a shock if he went inside the top-three. In fact, it is not out of the realm of possibility that we see a significant run on point guards early in the draft.

If that were to happen, Doncic would be the first domino to fall. His selection could prompt other teams in the market for a point guard to start snatching them up before it’s too late. While I have not been high on Young, he along with Doncic and Collin Sexton are clearly the three best point guards in this draft. After that, there is a significant drop off to Shai Gilgeous-Alexander.

Consequently, you could see teams reach, or even worse, move up to select Young or Sexton. Moreover, the Bulls could be one of those teams. There have already been reports that the Bulls are enamored with him and that he had a very good workout for them.

Additionally, although it has since been refuted by the team, Joe Cowley of the Chicago Sun-Times reported the Bulls were unhappy with his offseason work ethic so far. While I have previously voiced my opinion that the report was ridiculous, who knows what in the world the Bulls are really thinking. I know I’ll be watching closely to see what the Bulls do once Doncic comes off the board. Hopefully, they don’t panic and make an irrational move up for Young.

Bottom Line

Finally, excitement is building for Thursday night. Since the Bulls have multiple picks, they could really improve their roster. The Bulls certainly have a plan they would like to follow. However, as the great Mike Tyson once said, “everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth.” Let’s see what happens if someone punches the Bulls in the mouth.
