Why Chicago Bulls should uphold promise to Chandler Hutchison
By Ryan Heckman
Bulls don’t have a promising wing on the roster
Like the argument previously, Hutchison would not only fill a void coming off the bench, but he offers potential as a future starting-caliber wing. Sure, he isn’t the most flashy or a crazy athletic type of player. But, again, his maturity and overall growth as a player speaks volumes.

If the Bulls put the right pieces in place at the other four positions, Hutchison may very well pan out as a starting-caliber small forward. At the moment, Chicago has Justin Holiday starting. Not to knock Holiday too much, but I think Hutchison could end up supplanting Holiday at some point in the near future — although, a few wings in this draft would probably do that.
Aside from Holiday, the Bulls have guys like Denzel Valentine and Paul Zipser — and David Nwaba, if they decide to bring him back. While those three have a few things they are good at individually, none of them have it all put together like Hutchison does. Zipser is a solid shooter from the outside. Nwaba is a great defender and is also a candidate to be a big addition to the bench. Valentine improved in every area in his second season, but still has a long way to go.

When watching Hutchison, I just think his game looks more seasoned than any small forward on the current Bulls roster. If he is there at no. 22 and the Bulls don’t end up with Michael Porter Jr. at no. 7, he should be the pick purely based on upgrading the position.
