Chicago White Sox: Three predictions for second half of season
They will finish with fewer than 100 losses
As of now, the Chicago White Sox are on pace for 107 losses. That may sound awful, but a few weeks ago they were on pace for over 114 losses. Their recent play has given reason to believe that they could possibly finish with less than 100 losses.
It may not sound like much of an achievement, but it would be.
In order for it to happen though, the Chicago White Sox will need to play .433 baseball the rest of the way, which is quite a jump from their current pace of .342. So how is this going to happen?
Pitching. It’s steadily improving and it’s no coincidence that so is the team.
The rotation is starting to get settled with the return of Rodon and the emergence of Covey to go along with Lopez and Shields. Giolito has been inconsistent all season as he has struggled with control problems, but so far the team has yet to send him down to AAA.
And excluding Nate Jones, the bullpen has had a nice run lately as well. Jace Fry has emerged as the top left-handed option while Joakim Soria has started to look like his former self in the closer role.
The bullpen just recently had their scoreless innings streak come to an end against the Cleveland Indians when Chris Volstad gave up two runs last Thursday.

If the pitching continues to be consistent, the White Sox have enough hitting (with more help likely on the way) to be a .500 team in the second half of the season. And this would go a long way to instilling confidence heading into next season.
