2017-2018 Statistics: 21.2 points and 11.3 rebounds per game, 61.4 percent from the field

Why he could fall

I know, some of you aren’t buying this already. But, hear me out.

While a few folks out there even think Marvin Bagley III could go no. 1 overall, I’m not buying it. Not only is he not better than Ayton, but he might not even be among the top three or four big men in this class. Why, you ask?

Maybe some of you have seen the comparisons to a certain Jahlil Okafor. Maybe, just maybe, you took them seriously — as you should.

Bagley is really only great at one thing, and that’s hanging around the basket. He grabs a lot of rebounds mainly because he sits near the hoop the majority of the time. His points nearly all come from the paint as well, and he doesn’t boast a real consistent jump shot — don’t even ask him to shoot from downtown.

If teams catch on to the potential of Bagley completely flopping in the NBA due to not being anywhere close to well-rounded, he could fall a bit.

Fit with the Bulls

With all that said, I think it’d be crazy for me to then say Bagley fits with the Bulls. I’m not so sure about that. Maybe he does, with Markkanen being the guy to space the floor a bit as a stretch-four. Maybe it would be fine for Bagley to hang down low like a true, old-school center would.

But, when it comes to playing against quicker and more position-less teams, I’m not so sure Bagley has what it takes to defend at the NBA-level. For that reason, I would much rather the Bulls go with someone who possesses a safer floor.
