Chicago Bulls: 3 players who could slip to no. 7 overall
By Ryan Heckman
At no. 7 overall, the Chicago Bulls have an opportunity to draft someone special. With the latest rumors in mind, who could end up falling to them?
DeAndre Ayton. Luka Doncic. Those two names seem to be the only sure things across the majority of mainstream sports media and all of the recent mock drafts, rumors and projections. Outside of Ayton and Doncic, the Chicago Bulls truly could end up with a number of players at no. 7 overall.
With the draft just a week away, now is when things begin to get interesting. Pre-draft workouts are skyrocketing the stock of certain prospects as we speak, while other players could be falling for no reason at all. Right now, there are a handful of guys who are gaining a lot of steam as we head down the main stretch.
Kentucky’s Kevin Knox, Oklahoma’s Trae Young and Missouri’s Michael Porter Jr. are all guys who are moving quickly up the rankings. As you can see above, Knox has impressed lately. Bleacher Report released their most recent mock this week and had Young going to the Orlando Magic at no. 6 overall. And, finally, Porter’s name continues to rise as a report about a week ago stated that the Bulls could end up having to trade up in order to get him.
Even a guy like Lonnie Walker out of Miami has shot up many draft boards lately — who knew? So, with all of the aforementioned players’ stock going bonkers at the moment, what does that mean for the Bulls?
Short answer: Good things to come.
The Bulls could likely end up with a top-5 talent based purely on teams reaching for the potential they have seen recently out of players who have spent most of their time outside of the top seven or eight picks in almost every mock draft for the past month. Who could fall to the Bulls? Well, by certain logic, you’d be shocked. Here are three guys who just might be there when the Bulls pick at no. 7.
