Chicago Bears should consider these still-available free agents

3. Outside Linebacker Connor Barwin
Connor Barwin has been one of the more consistently good pass rushers over the past several seasons. While he hasn’t appeared as an elite pass rusher in all of those years, the fact is, he hasn’t finished with less than 5.0 sacks in a season since 2012 — that’s impressive.
Last year, Barwin played in 14 games for the Los Angeles Rams. Crazy enough, that was the first time he had missed any games since 2010 when he missed the entire season with the Houston Texans. Other than that, he’s been healthy and fairly productive.
Barwin’s best season came in 2014 with the Philadelphia Eagles when he finished with 14.5 sacks on the year. In 2011, he totaled 11.0 sacks with the Texans. Other than that, he has finished with 5.0 sacks on three separate occasions while also finishing 2015 with 7.0.

As I have already mentioned, the Bears need as much help as they can get at the position. Barwin could ideally come in right away and compete for the starting job opposite Floyd. The one thing Barwin would do above all else is give the Bears a very solid veteran presence in the locker room. The Bears roster is compiled of mainly younger guys at this point, and the 31-year-old Barwin has always been considered a favorite in the locker room and the community.
