Chicago Bears should consider these still-available free agents

5. Outside Linebacker Junior Galette
One of the bigger names still available is pass rush specialist Junior Galette. The 30-year-old edge rusher spent last season with the Washington Redskins and played in all 16 games after twice tearing his achilles in previous seasons.

Prior to his bad fortune with injuries, Galette spent the first several years of his career with the New Orleans Saints, registering a total of 31.5 sacks in five seasons. His best years came in 2013 and 2014 where he totaled 12.0 and 10.0 sacks, respectively.
At the moment, Galette has told some folks that he has received offers but that he is also thinking about retirement. While that might seem like bad news for Chicago, it doesn’t close the door completely on bringing a guy like that in.
The Bears’ biggest question mark going into training camp is the pass rush. With Aaron Lynch suffering a second injury of this offseason during minicamp, the Bears look even thinner at the position. There are some veterans competing there, as well as rookie Joel Iyiegbuniwe. But, no one outside of Leonard Floyd is a lock to play at a fairly high level when healthy.
If I am Ryan Pace, I’d at least make a call — if he hasn’t already — and try to get Galette in camp. The position desperately needs some help.
