Chicago Bulls big board for 2018 NBA Draft
By Ryan Heckman
15. Guard Jerome Robinson, Boston College
If the Bulls want a guard who can score the basketball, Jerome Robinson might just be their guy. The former Boston College Eagle comes into the draft as a guy who looks like a great bench player. While he might be able to become a starter, it’s hard to imagine Robinson as a starting two guard because of his limitations defensively.
The limitations lie in his size. At just 6-foot-4, Robinson would be going up against much bigger players on the wing, defensively. I’m not saying his size is going to define his role in the NBA, because we know how well that worked out for those criticizing guys like Steph Curry and Isaiah Thomas.
Robinson is definitely someone the Bulls could bring off the bench with a guy like Bobby Portis in order to give the team some juice. Portis’ energy is electric and with the scoring potential of Robinson, the two could be a lethal pairing. Robinson is yet another guy who finished last season shooting over 40 percent from three-point range. If there’s one thing we know about some of these guards in 2018, it’s that they can shoot it from deep.
Right now, Robinson’s draft projection is all over the place. I have seen him mocked as a second-round pick. I’ve also seen some outlets putting him inside the top-20. It’s going to get murky after the top 12 picks or so, therefore the Bulls could likely have some of their favorites fall to them at no. 22.
