16. Guard Anfernee Simons, IMG Academy

Ready for a wildcard? Meet Anfernee Simons out of IMG Academy — yes, that is a high school. The second high school kid on the big board, Simons, enters the draft as an 18-year-old shooting guard who offers a lot to like. But, the question is, without any college experience, how well is his game going to translate?

Simons can certainly shoot the ball; that we know for certain. However, his ability to shoot consistently is what comes into question when further evaluating him as a pro prospect. Bulls fans don’t like the word “streaky,” because it reminds them of Ben Gordon. While Gordon gave us a lot of great moments, he also was the reason why most of his coaches lost a lot of hair.

One other thing we know for sure of Simons is that he is a gifted athlete. He is incredibly quick and instinctive, especially when going to the basket. Sports Illustrated’s scouting report on him mentions that he is at his best when he’s aggressively going to the basket. They also see potential for Simons to spend some time in the G League, which isn’t necessarily a horrible thing.

With someone so young like Simons, the Bulls could afford to give him some time to develop. If done properly, Simons’ development could lead to a high-scoring piece of the future for Chicago.
