Chicago Bulls: 5 potential replacements for Kris Dunn

Isaiah Thomas, Unrestricted Free Agent
Over the past couple of seasons, the stock of point guard Isaiah Thomas seems to have fallen a little bit. Some have doubted his ability to stay healthy. Others have questioned whether he is really, truly a great point guard or if he just had a couple of good years and has fallen off a bit.

The way I see it, he hasn’t had consistency in nearly three years. When he was with the Boston Celtics, Thomas found a home for a bit. He felt comfortable. He knew the offense, had time to mesh with his teammates, and then when he left Boston, all of that was over and done with.
I think, although undersized, Thomas has electric ability. He can score. He is an above-average passer. Defensively, he may get exposed at times simply because of his size. But, there are ways to compensate for that. Thomas is a winner. All he needs is the right situation, and I don’t think his best years are behind him if he gets placed in the right situation this summer.
For the Bulls, Thomas would definitely be an upgrade over Dunn. While Dunn is the better defender, Thomas is better in the other major areas. Thomas is a better decision-maker and can pick his shots more consistently than Dunn.
This will all depend on where Thomas wants to play, which teams are interested, how much money Thomas wants, how much money teams are willing to pay, etc. There are a lot of factors here. But, if the Bulls are serious about upgrading the position, I would hope they make some calls to Thomas’ agent.
