Why the Chicago Bulls must draft Mikal Bridges over Trae Young
If it comes down to Mikal Bridges or Trae Young for the Chicago Bulls at No.7, who should they pick?
Have you ever gone to the store to buy something you really need, but instead, you come home with something bright and shiny that you already have four of sitting in your garage? The good news in that scenario is, you can go back to the store and get the thing you actually need before your significant other finds out. If the Chicago Bulls draft Trae Young over Mikal Bridges, they won’t have that luxury.

Bridges is that “thing” the Bulls need, while Young is that bright, shiny object that could distract the Bulls from fulfilling that need. He might also be the thing that sits in the Bulls’ proverbial garage as a constant reminder of what they should have done.
The Bulls need to drown out the noise and focus on what they need. Buying a lottery ticket in the form of Young could turn out to be disastrous. The modern NBA is trending toward versatile wing players who can not only launch threes but defend the perimeter. It is not trending toward undersized, volume-shooting point guards who can’t guard a lick.
Young had a very nice season last year. Yet, if the Bulls are looking for a player who fits their needs, style of play and whose game more readily translates to the next level, then Mikal Bridges should be the pick between the two. Evaluating the two based on defense, scoring, and getting teammates involved, Mikal comes out the clear choice.
