Scoring

Let’s be honest here. There might not be a better pure scorer in the draft than Trae Young. A look at the numbers:

Mikal Bridges: 17.7 points per game, 51% field goal percentage, 43.5% three-point percentage

Trae Young: 27.4 points per game (led all of NCAA D-1), 42% field goal percentage, 36% three-point percentage

27 points per game. Twenty-seven. Trae Young established himself as the best scorer in the country last season. Young lit up strong defenses in conference play, and took advantage of lacking units in non-conference play. Easy competition or tough competition, Trae Young always came through.

Yes, Bridges shooting percentages are better. But Young averaged almost eight more shots per game (19.3) than Bridges (11.9). Naturally you’re going to miss more shots with the more shots you take.

In the clip above, Young showcases his precise ball-handling, smart decision-making, and elite shooting stroke all in one play. Against the same Ball State that upset Notre Dame not too long before.

With his shooting and feel for the game, Trae Young always has full control of the game around him, something that you can’t find in every point guard.

The numbers never lie, and nor does the eye test. Trae Young is special, and the Bulls need to jump on any opportunity to pick him.
