Chicago Bulls: 3 reasons to draft a point guard
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bulls have a young, developing point guard already, but that shouldn’t stop them from drafting one this year.
“Why on earth would the Chicago Bulls waste a draft pick on a point guard? What are you thinking? Are you insane?”
If you asked any one of those questions, yet you’re still reading, I assure you, your questions will be answered. I am not crazy. In fact, some of the latest news suggests I am not the only one thinking the Bulls could end up snagging a point guard at no. 7 overall.
In a recent report, the Bulls have now been linked to two top-10 picks in the upcoming NBA Draft, both of whom are point guards:
Trae Young out of Oklahoma and Collin Sexton out of Alabama should both end up going in the top 10, if not the top 12 at worst. Both present different qualities to covet for point-guard-needy teams.
But, are the Bulls such a team? Probably not. Currently, they have a young Kris Dunn who has shown flashes of being a potentially good, if not great, point guard of the future.
So, why would they even consider drafting Young or Sexton? Well, there are a few reasons. Let me start by giving you three of them which make the most sense. Hang with me here.
