New Places, New Faces

Not only does Mitch Trubisky need to learn a new system in a compressed time period, but he must do it with a whole new set of weapons. Not that he had a ton of familiarity with his old receiving corps, but it was something. Mitch will have to begin to develop new chemistry with the host of new faces he will be throwing to.

He will have to begin to learn their tendencies, preferences, strengths, weaknesses, and tells. Chemistry is paramount between a quarterback and his receivers. It’s what makes the quarterback comfortable throwing that back shoulder throw in tight coverage. It gives him confidence that the receiver will anticipate the same thing and be at the right place at the right time. At this moment, he has very few of these things.

Trubisky will have to identify quickly what each receiver is capable of doing and what their limitations are. He will also need to have a complete mastery of this offense to help instruct others where to be. He will have to work quickly to develop all of the above if the Bears are going to get off to a good start this year.

On the positive side, at least Trubisky feels he is building chemistry quickly with his new teammates. From the video above, it seems like things are progressing nicely. It will certainly take time to build the kind of rapport necessary to be successful. The great news is, Mitch has no problems putting in that time.
