Chicago Cubs MLB Draft Big Board
Today marks the first day of the 2018 Major League Baseball First-Year Player Draft. The Chicago Cubs pick 24th overall in the first round of the draft.
The Chicago Cubs would be nowhere close to where they are today without the talent gained throughout the years from the MLB Draft.
Franchise cornerstones Javier Baez (a holdover from the Jim Hendry days), Kris Bryant and Kyle Schwarber were all once drafted by the Chicago Cubs in the first round.

I guess you could say that Theo Epstein has a spectacular track record when it comes to the draft. Even Anthony Rizzo was drafted by Epstein during his tenure in Boston.
Epstein and the front office will look to continue that great track record on Monday when the Cubs will pick 24th-overall in the first round of the draft.
This year’s draft is talent-heavy around the top, especially when it comes to college position players and high school pitchers.
At this point, the Cubs certainly won’t be drafting for need. With zero top-100 prospects, the Cubs will just be looking to add a piece to rebuild the farm system around.
Given how deep this draft is, the Cubs will have a load of premier talent available at 24. Whether it’s a college hitter or a prep prospect, the Cubs will likely get a guy that can become the next elite prospect in the once top-notch Cubs farm system.
