Chicago Bears: Training camp schedule released

The Chicago Bears announced their 2018 training camp schedule. A total of 11 practices will be open to the public.

We are officially in the midst of the “slow new period” of the NFL offseason. Although there was some exciting news coming out of OTAs yesterday, for the most part, things have been slow. However, today the Chicago Bears reminded us that exciting times are right around the corner. That’s because they released their official training camp schedule. We take a look at some of the highlights below.

As a result of the Bears hiring a new head coach, NFL rules allow for them to begin their offseason training camp sooner than they otherwise would. No doubt, they could benefit from the additional time having to install an entirely new offense with a lot of new personnel. So when does all of the fun begin?

In 2018 there will be a total of 11 practices open to the public. Opening weekend kicks off (pun intended) on Saturday, July 21-22 at Olivet Nazarene campus in Bourbonnais, IL. Open practices resume on July 26th, carrying through Family Weekend, the 27th and 28th.

Camp picks up again Tuesday, July 30th for Military Appreciation Day. This will be the last open practice before the Bears take on the Baltimore Ravens in the Hall of Fame game on August 2nd.

The Chicago Bears will resume open practices on August 4-6, as they celebrate Blue and Orange weekend. The team will play its second preseason game on August 9th against the Cincinnati Bengals. Then, the team will conclude its open practice schedule Saturday, August 11th under the lights starting at  7:10 p.m. All other practices will begin at 8:15 a.m. local time.

Training camp is a great opportunity to not only see the 2018 squad in action but also take advantage of the many fan-focused activities. There will be an interactive area for the kids and a promotional area with games and prizes. With all the buzz around the team this year, expect big crowds so plan your schedule accordingly!
