Miles Bridges, SF – Michigan State

It is kind of a surprise that Michigan State Sophomore Miles Bridges could even be an option for the Bulls at number seven. It’s not because he is not a good fit, or is expected to be drafted higher, but because most expected him to be selected in the 2017 NBA Draft.

Bridges was widely regarded as a lottery pick if he had chosen to come out of school last year. However, to the shock of many and the delight of MSU fans, he chose to return to school. It remains to be seen what effect, if any, that decision will have on his draft stock. Regardless, most experts do not have him lasting past the fifteenth pick.

While it is virtually certain he will be available at number seven, the real question is, would the Bulls want him? Well, the short answer is, they should. Bridges, who spent two years under the tutelage of Tom Izzo will certainly enter the league well coached. While some may hold his return to school against him, it is hard to see how another year of developing his game against elite competition could be anything but a positive.

The southpaw possesses a skillset that the Bulls could definitely use. He is an extremely athletic wing, even more so now that he has dropped twenty-pounds since the end of the season. However, he still seems strong enough to give you some minutes at the power forward position. He’s 6-foot-7 with a seven-foot wingspan, so he has the length to play at that position. He also worked extremely hard on his jumper, particularly off the dribble.

He would be a perfect compliment to Lauri Markkanen in that he gives the Bulls some muscle underneath, but the versatility to spread the floor. Judging by his college film, he would also benefit from Kris Dunn‘s pick and pop prowess. All that said, the Bulls might be looking for a little more “beef” to pair with Markkanen. If so, one player, in particular, stands out.
