Compete in the East?

If you bring Towns to the Bulls, they will compete for a playoff spot next season — book it. In such a weak conference, Chicago would absolutely have a shot to make the postseason.

Think about LaVine starting fresh for an entire season with his new team. He’s healthy. He’s back. He’s the same guy he was before his knee injury, just as he looked right away with the Bulls last year.

Imagine seeing Lauri Markkanen take another step in his second season. The guy is already a jack-of-all-trades type of big man. Throw another guy in the front court, like Towns, who can stretch the floor and hit from the outside? That’s an impressive starting duo, and Markkanen would benefit greatly as a sophomore with the help of Towns.

Then, picture Dunn at the point. We all know he wants to score first, but with Towns especially, he won’t have to. Dunn would assume the role of strictly playing point guard. He would have three options to get the ball to in Towns, LaVine and Markkanen, and when necessary, could score a bit himself.

The only question is, who would be included in that trade that is currently on the Bulls’ roster? I would guess that Bobby Portis would be a likely candidate, along with maybe Justin Holiday or Jerian Grant.

Still, with the starting five the Bulls could put out on the floor, I’d see them battling for one of the lower spots in the East, no doubt.
