Why LeBron James will never surpass Michael Jordan
By Ryan Heckman
The never-ending debate is a fun one, but Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan will never be passed up by LeBron James. It’s simple, really.
Every year, it seems like the LeBron James versus Michael Jordan debate arises. And, every year, it seems as though the debate gets more and more heated. Recently, the debate has swirled into a raging storm once again.
After the Cleveland Cavaliers swept the Toronto Raptors in the 2018 Eastern Conference Semifinals, the conversation became much more popular once again. After all, LeBron and company did make the dismantling of the Eastern Conference’s best regular season team look awfully simple.
LeBron certainly deserves all of the praise he receives as the NBA’s best player over the last 10-to-15 years. I will be the first to admit that, right now, he’s the best player in the game until he retires. It’s pretty evident. However, when he begins to be mentioned in the conversation for the “G.O.A.T.,” that’s where I tend to get a little peeved.
The “Greatest of All-Time” argument used to be laughable, but as the years in LeBron’s career went on, the conversation got a bit more serious. Once again, I give the man credit where it is due. Do I believe he is one of the top five players to ever play the game? Certainly. I’d be a fool not to.
But, if you want to tell me he’s greater than Jordan, that’s where I’ll stop you. There are so many reasons why Jordan will always be the greatest, but let’s go through just a few. If you’re on LeBron’s side, and you’re not convinced after reading, I suppose you’re like I was back in high school when I was convinced “she was the one.” Boy, was I wrong.
