Linebackers

Danny Trevathan

If he can stay healthy, Danny Trevathan is arguably the best player for the Bears in their front seven. For now, he is also the leader of this defense when on the field.

Roquan Smith

Speaking of the leader of this defense, Roquan Smith will likely take over that title soon enough. The first-round pick from Georgia will come in and immediately start next to Trevathan.

Leonard Floyd

We are still waiting for Leonard Floyd to break out, and maybe it happens in year three for him. At his peak, Floyd can rush the passer as a lightning-fast and aggressive guy off the edge.

Aaron Lynch

A fairly underrated free agent pickup for the Bears, Aaron Lynch’s familiarity with Vic Fangio’s defense should help him win the starting spot opposite of Floyd.

Nick Kwiatkoski

There has been talk of Nick Kwiatkoski switching to outside linebacker, but either way, he will provide the Bears a very good depth piece should any one of the top four guys get hurt. If he indeed learns the outside position as well, he’ll be invaluable to this defense.

Joel Iyiegbuniwe

He was a bit of a head-scratching pick at first, but I think people will start to come around on what Pace saw in Joel Iyiegbuniwe. He will back up the guys on the inside and could be a valuable backup and special teams player.

Kylie Fitts

It was clear on film that Kylie Fitts was lethal when healthy, and I’m banking on his health staying on the up-and-up throughout the summer. I have him making the roster and playing as a solid rotational guy either off the edge or even maybe spelling the defensive ends.

Sam Acho

One of the more highly-respected players in the locker room, Sam Acho rounds out the linebackers.
