Chicago Bulls: 5 offseason questions looming large

The Chicago Bulls are coming off a relatively mediocre season, considering expectations. Shifting to the offseason, now, some questions are looming.

The state of the Chicago Bulls is not exactly something that we know right now. The direction of the team — we assume — is obviously shifting toward a youth movement. But, with that being one of the only sure things at the moment, where do John Paxson and Gar Forman go from here?

Over the course of the summer, the organization will have to make several decisions. Some of them may be easier than others. Yet, at the same time, it might feel like a couple of them might be forced, if the team indeed goes forward with them.

What do we know about the team, at this very moment? Well, we have a core of Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn and Bobby Portis that the Bulls should be relatively excited about. Are any of them superstars? No, but they don’t necessarily have to be if the Bulls make the right moves in the coming days, weeks, months — and years.

One name left out of that group, intentionally, is Zach LaVine. What happens to him? I’ll address that. Have no qualms about it, that’s one question that is at the forefront of this front office’s mind.

Where do the Bulls go in the draft? I suppose the better question right now, is where they will be picking. Regardless, how do they handle their strategy depending on who goes in front of them?

Aside from LaVine and the draft, the Bulls have a few options available to them when it comes to their current roster and guys who may or may not be under contract for the foreseeable future. One of them that we have covered recently is David Nwaba. Does a guy like him get brought back to be a force off the bench?

Even if the season itself wasn’t exciting, fans should be cautiously optimistic about the future of this franchise. There are many moves to be made in the coming days. I take a look at just five questions looming over the team at the moment.
