Chicago Bears: Diving into notable moves following rookie minicamp
By Ryan Heckman
Offensive Line Depth Added
Fans should be excited that the starting offensive line appears to be ready to rock. Following the drafting of James Daniels, the Bears filled the void left by Josh Sitton. Now, the focus shifts to building depth behind the starting five. Notable guys returning are Eric Kush and last year’s fifth-round pick Jordan Morgan, who missed his rookie year due to injury.
The Bears also signed Earl Watford and Dejon Allen this offseason, but that likely won’t be good enough for Nagy. Competition will be key, so the Bears signed a couple more offensive linemen after this weekend’s camp.
Jeremi Hall, OL
Jeremi Hall is a 6-foot-5, 340-pound offensive lineman who started 13 games for South Florida in 2016 and 16 games for the team last year. Hall played left guard at USF, but due to his size, he might be viewed as a right tackle. None of the guys signed over the weekend based on a tryout are likely to make the roster, but Hall is going to be a guy to watch, and he might have practice squad potential. Young offensive linemen could really flourish under the likes of Harry Hiestand.

Matt McCants, OL
Speaking of guys unlikely to make the roster, Matt McCants is a lineman who was originally drafted back in 2012 as a sixth-round pick by the New York Giants. He has spent some time with a couple of teams since, most notably with the Oakland Raiders in 2013 where he made three starts at right tackle. McCants is likely just a camp body.
