Chicago Bears: 5 post-NFL Draft roster questions
By Ryan Heckman
Now that the dust has settled following the 2018 NFL Draft and minicamps are over, we have five questions in regards to the Chicago Bears’ roster.
The 2018 NFL Draft was a lot of fun, but now the real work begins. Sandwiched between veteran minicamp and rookie minicamp, the Bears had quite the span of three weeks. A revamped coaching staff began their duties in familiarizing players with the new offensive scheme as well as assisting the defense taking the next step under Vic Fangio.
Matt Nagy and Ryan Pace have done an excellent job over the course of the offseason addressing roster questions, especially over draft weekend. But, now that the draft is over and the offseason activities begin to ramp up, there are still quite a few questions to be answered before the Hall of Fame game kicks off preseason action.
A few key questions have already been answered. Who will start at inside linebacker? Before the draft, some thought it would be Nick Kwiatkoski. Now that Roquan Smith is a Bear, that is no longer the case.
Where do the Bears fill the hole left by Josh Sitton? That answer came in James Daniels. The starting offensive line appears to be set, for now. In addition, how would the Bears fill the void left by Cameron Meredith? Once again, via the draft, that question was put to rest with the selection of Anthony Miller.
So, some important issues have been resolved. But, still, there lies many intriguing position battles set to take place over the summer. With that, there come more questions in terms of scheme, snap counts and workload. Here are five questions that many are asking now that the draft and minicamps are done with.
