Marcus Smart

2018 Free Agency Status: Restricted

2017-2018 Highlights: 29.9 MPG, 10.2 PPG, 4.8 APG, 3.5 RPG, 1.3 SPG

Last but not least, you have the most controversial guy on the entire list — but arguably the most valuable. Marcus Smart is by no means a scoring threat, but he does everything else rather well.

He is a proven floor general, dishing out nearly five assists per game off the bench. He plays with a very aggressive style, almost too aggressive at times. But, because of that, he grabs a few rebounds here and there and is good for a steal each night.

Also due to his nature, he’s a fantastic defender. He doesn’t back down from anybody and holds his own against some of the better guards in the NBA. For the Bulls to get a defender like Smart, it would mean an instant impact on that side of the ball. Chicago struggled in a lot of areas last year, so I’m not going to call one particular area a greater need than another. But, to have a defender who plays like Smart coming off the bench would be an asset to the roster.

In case you haven’t noticed a theme, here, Smart is also restricted. What will they be willing to pay him with the emergence of other guards this postseason, as well as Kyrie Irving coming back? Smart will likely have several suitors; could the Bulls be one of them?
