2018 Free Agency Status: Restricted

2017-2018 Highlights: 16.8 MPG (14 games played), 8.1 PPG, 3.1 APG, 48.3 FG PCT

You might remember this kid as the fifth overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Dante Exum played a full 82 games that year, but has only played in 80 games total since that season. Exum was supposed to be the future of the Utah Jazz. Instead, they had to find other options at the position due to his durability issues.

Exum would be someone the Bulls could take an absolute shot in the dark with. He only played in 14 games over the course of 2017-2018. In those games, though, he was rather efficient in just under 17 minutes per game.

Exum, when healthy, is actually more of a true point guard. He can distribute and he can score. That’s typically what you want from that position, right? Well, that’s him. Shooting just over 48 percent from the field in those few games, Exum proved he can still put points on the board. If I’m the Bulls, and I know this offseason is going to be about a continued rebuild, why not take a flier on him?

Exum is restricted, but with the success the Jazz had this last year, I would highly doubt they bring him back. They have more than enough talent in the back court and probably wouldn’t want to risk paying a guy who can’t stay healthy. The Bulls, though, don’t have a whole lot to lose.
