You want to talk about one of the most overlooked, yet one of the best role players in all of the NBA? Look no further than Joe Harris of the Brooklyn Nets. After being drafted in the second round four years ago by the Cleveland Cavaliers, Harris has come into his own the past two seasons with the Nets.
Maybe it’s because the Nets have been pretty awful, but Harris is not a guy you hear a lot about — it’s about time he starts to get the attention he deserves. Harris played roughly 25 minutes per game last season and had a career year in the process.
His 41.9 percent shooting from three-point range is obviously attractive, but the guy shot over 49 percent from the field overall — that’s outstanding. The great thing about Harris is the fact that he’s young and he’s ascending defensively. If the Bulls want another young piece to the puzzle, they better hope other teams overlook this guy and that he falls into their lap.
Of course, it won’t be that easy. Harris might end up being a sneaky, coveted free agent this year, especially by some of the contenders looking for a specialist like him. If Chicago can lock in a contract with Harris, though, their rotation would be lifted immensely.
