The Chicago Bulls, more than likely, won’t be large players in free agency this year. These five veteran wings could help groom the youth, however.

How did the 2017-2018 season go for the Chicago Bulls? Well, it depends on who you ask. To most fans, it went a little better than expected. The win total ended up being more than what I anticipated, quite honestly. Yet, in the end, is that really a positive?

Once again, it depends on who you ask. Personally, I love seeing my teams win games. Sometimes, I’ll admit, I am watching what happens in terms of draft positioning. But, nothing beats the feeling of winning — just ask the players themselves, especially the younger guys fighting for playing time.

In any event, the Bulls have some work to do this offseason.

There is something to be said about building your team via free agency. Teams like the Boston Celtics years ago, the Miami Heat of just a few seasons ago and even as recent as the Golden State Warriors — they have all built their teams through adding prime talent via free agency. The Warriors, in fairness, drafted both Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson. I can’t forget Draymond Green, either.

But, the big name free agents have made headlines over the last few years by which team they select in free agency. It’s no longer truly up to the teams as much as it is up to the players. Does money matter? Of course. But, what matters most, typically, is the chance to win.

The Bulls don’t present that chance just yet. So, this summer is going to be about grooming the youth for the future when, just maybe, they will compete on a higher level. The core that they have in place of Lauri Markkanen, Kris Dunn and — hopefullyZach LaVine should be good enough to build on over the course of the next two seasons.

Then, maybe they could attract bigger names. For now, take a look at five veteran wings that could help the Bulls along the way in building up the younger guys.
