The odds to win the NFC North have been released by a few premier sites. The Chicago Bears’ chances might anger you just a bit.

The 2018 NFL offseason has been undoubtedly one of the best the Chicago Bears have had in recent years. With the hiring of Matt Nagy and several new coaches, Ryan Pace established a direction early on, and that direction was forward.

Nagy and Pace worked together to create an immediate culture shift, which shone its light throughout free agency. The Bears were able to bring players in who will have an immediate impact upon not just their entire team, but specifically, their second-year quarterback Mitch Trubisky.

Even though the free agent haul and 2018 NFL Draft class made for a fantastic spring, still, not many people believe in the Bears. The official odds to win Super Bowl 53 have come out, courtesy of Bovada, and they don’t seem to like Chicago’s odds.

Here are the top five:

  • New England Patriots 5/1

  • Los Angeles Rams 9/1

  • Philadelphia Eagles 9/1

  • Pittsburgh Steelers 12/1

  • Minnesota Vikings 12/1

Now, let’s take a look at the bottom five:

  • Buffalo Bills 100/1

  • Cincinnati Bengals 100/1

  • Chicago Bears 100/1

  • Miami Dolphins 150/1

  • New York Jets 200/1

So, the Bears have essentially no shot of appearing in the Super Bowl this season. But, could they contend for the NFC North title? Let’s see what kind of odds LV Super Book gives the Bears to win their own division:

There’s not a whole lot of love here for the Bears. Even after adding so many weapons on offense, solidifying the kicking game, keeping their top-10 defense in good shape while shedding aging veterans and adding a rookie talent like Roquan Smith, the Bears still don’t have the oddsmakers’ attention.

Like Kyle Long told the media last offseason, not a whole lot of people believe in the Bears, and they’re out to change their minds. I don’t guarantee a Super Bowl by any means, but I promise you this: The Bears will be a competitive football team and push for 9-to-10 wins this season.

The fact that the Bears share the same Super Bowl odds as teams like the Bengals and Bills should be considered insulting. Heck, even the Cleveland Browns have a better shot to win the Super Bowl this year than the Bears! The Browns checked in at 90/1.

Next: Why Mitch Trubisky will be a top 10 QB in 2018

Regardless of whatever odds the so-called “experts” give Chicago this season, I’m looking forward to the defense taking another step, Trubisky coming into his own and shocking the football world while leading this team to a whole lot more success than Bovada or LV Super Book anticipate.
