Chicago Bears: Why Mitch Trubisky will be a top 10 QB in 2018
By Ryan Heckman
The Chicago Bears have done absolutely everything possible to build around quarterback Mitch Trubisky. Here is why it will pay off immediately.
It wasn’t too long ago that much of the national media had been using a phrase like, “We’re not so sure what the Chicago Bears have in Mitch Trubisky.” But, for some reason, they have started to come around.
After the 2018 NFL Draft, I have seen a handful of highly-respected members of the football world, like Mike Mayock among others, give the Bears props for what they’ve done this offseason. Not only that, but some are starting to see the potential in Trubisky as well.
All I have to say is: It’s about time.
Bears fans can be as biased as they want to be, but nothing lies when it’s on tape. If the national media had paid attention last season, they’d have seen a quarterback who was strapped down and locked into a bland offense with zero creativity. That would hurt even some of the best quarterbacks out there.
With a new head coach who understands new-age offense like Matt Nagy, those days are over.
Everybody wants to talk about Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, and rightfully so. What Watson did in his short time last season was nothing short of amazing. But, you know what’s better than stunning crows and pulling off huge box scores?
All-around great production.
Trubisky was the highest graded rookie quarterback last season, according to Pro Football Focus. Say what you want to about Watson, but to me, that’s a fairly telling fact. Don’t get me wrong. Watson is going to be great so long as he’s healthy, but Trubisky is on his way as well.
In the following pages, I have even more data to backup my notion that Trubisky could very well be a top-10 quarterback in 2018. Let’s dig in.
