Chicago Bears: Anthony Miller’s tweet has fans excited
By Ryan Heckman
New Chicago Bears wide receiver Anthony Miller has some plans for his new jersey number. Fans are already getting amped up.
It was announced Thursday that second-round pick Anthony Miller would be suiting up in a Chicago Bears uniform sporting a very familiar number to fans. Already, people have come out with plenty of opinions. However, most of them have been positive and of the excited nature.
You’ll notice if you follow the Bears on any social media platform that they showed us all the rookies’ new numbers. Miller, for example, will be wearing number 17 — yes, the number worn by former Bears wideout Alshon Jeffery.
Immediately upon hearing of this, fans expressed tons of support for Miller on Twitter, especially after the wideout posted this:

If you know anything about the former Memphis Tiger, you know he is of the feisty nature. He is the competitor of all competitors. Miller wants you to know he’s going to outwork you and all 10 of your teammates on defense when he’s on the field — and he backs it up.
It’s true, fans were a tad bitter when Jeffery wasn’t retained a year ago. Ryan Pace made the decision not to offer a long-term deal and Jeffery went on to not only secure a long-term extension midseason in 2017, but win a Super Bowl with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Talk about changing fortunes.
For Miller, Jeffery’s legacy doesn’t matter — nor should it. The former Bear was only here for a short time and will likely go on to have a long career in the league. Fans have already forgotten about Jeffery, or so they say, and Miller is now a Bear. A new chapter begins.
For the record, I for one have not forgotten about Jeffery and was thrilled to see him win a ring. I’m not ignorant enough to say the Bears haven’t missed the type of target Jeffery presented. Although, they might not need that type of target anymore under Matt Nagy’s new system.
Miller is going to create his own legacy, that much is true. He gives the Bears options galore in terms of where he can line up. Chances are, he will see a lot of time in the slot as he has proved to be dangerous in the open field.

For now, we can only dream of what we will see come September and enjoy watching the offseason activities unfold. Miller is going to be a big part of this team going forward, and fans should be thrilled by Pace’s selection.
