Chicago Bears: Pro comparisons for Day 3 draft picks
#6: Kylie Fitts, Defensive End, Utah
Round 6, Pick 181
Pro Comparison: Tank Carradine
The Bears finally filled their void at edge rusher depth in the sixth round, selecting Kylie Fitts from Utah.
Fitts was a former blue-chip recruit who had committed to UCLA in 2014. After transferring to Utah, Fitts had trouble staying on the field due to nagging foot injuries.
However when Fitts found the field, his explosiveness and quickness on the edge proved as a big impact maker for the Utes. If Fitts can stay healthy, he holds the potential to do the same.
As a result of his past medical issues, its tough to project what Kylie Fitts can be in the NFL. A realistic comparison for Fitts is Raiders defensive end Tank Carradine.
A 2013 second-round pick out of Florida State, Carradine has notched 5.5 sacks in his short NFL career.
Both Carradine and Fitts stand 6’4″ and weigh 275 pounds, and both find success in utilizing their burst of explosiveness and quickness.
On the downside, both Carradine and Fitts struggle to fight through contact from the offensive line. Carradine has had a somewhat successful career to this point — a career that would be viewed at as a major success from a sixth round pick in Kylie Fitts.
