Chicago Bears: 3 reasons why James Daniels was the perfect pick
The Chicago Bears did not trade their second-round pick as some predicted. Instead, they solidified their interior line for the next decade.
On day one, Ryan Pace and the Chicago Bears hit a home run by selecting Georgia linebacker Roquan Smith, who will immediately come in and start alongside Danny Trevathan. On day two, the Bears had quite a few needs they could have chosen to address. But, with only one second-round pick (or so we thought), which need would Pace decide was the most pressing?
It turned out, Pace wasn’t about to reach for the most pressing need. Instead, he looked at the best available player at no. 39 and saw that he could fill one of the top needs with said player.

However, there was a lot of first-round talent on the board when the Bears were on the clock. The Bears decided to draft one of those players — James Daniels, a center from the University of Iowa.
The pick was immediately regarded as a terrific selection. Some might wonder why the Bears would draft a center when they already have Cody Whitehair at that position. However, this was an excellent pick for a number of reasons. We take a look at a few of those reasons below.
