That had to be one of the more exciting first rounds we’ve seen in some time. There really wasn’t much set in stone and I think that’s what made it so awesome. Starting with one Heisman Trophy winner and ending with another was like icing on the cake. As for the Chicago Bears, the intrigue and mystique have only intensified.
Whether it was seeing two-time walk-on Baker Mayfield beat all odds to go first overall or seeing Lamar Jackson barely sneaking into the first round, day one wasn’t short of storylines.

The one thing that Chicago Bears fans will remember is that they stole away Roquan Smith. It finally feels like for the first time in years, they have found someone worthy of being the heir to Brian Urlacher.
One major note here is that a ton of first round talent that somehow made it to the second day. The Bears were trying to take advantage of this by angling to creep back into the end of the first round. But the Baltimore Ravens weren’t having any of that.
However, there is some serious excitement surrounding who else they can add. Guys like Harold Landry, Josh Jackson, Connor Williams, Will Hernandez, Isaiah Oliver, and Courtland Sutton are still lingering out on the board. But for the most part, the head honcho feels pleased about how day one went:
