Smith is a Pro Football Focus darling.
If you are a visual person, like myself, just take a look at all of the love Smith has gotten via Pro Football Focus.

Smith gives the Bears a guy in the middle who can drop back into coverage with the best of them. The NFC North features a whole lot of passing. The Bears play the likes of Aaron Rodgers, Matthew Stafford and Kirk Cousins twice a year. They are now going to have to deal with Smith in the middle.

If Chicago is going to attempt to contend with a team like the Minnesota Vikings, they’re going to need to stop the run as well. Dalvin Cook is coming back, and if he’s healthy, Chicago will have a problem on their hands with the former Seminole. Fortunately, Smith is a stud against the run also.

Pro Football Focus graded Smith as the top linebacker in the entire class because of just how balanced he is overall. You know he can drop into coverage. You know he can stuff the run. What else is there to like about him?
