An NFL insider recently leaked the no. 1 overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. How does this affect the Chicago Bears on draft night?

Many Chicago Bears fans want one particular player in the first round. Who is it, and how would he fall?

On Tuesday, NFL insider Benjamin Allbright may have made a huge mistake. Leading up to the NFL Draft, there have to be a few people out there who know which player will be taken no. 1 overall by the Cleveland Browns. Of course, no one would ever let a secret like that go, would they?

To bury any speculation regarding the New York Jets, the person who took this screenshot simply had a Jets tweet on their timeline. Allbright’s tweet was in reference to a different tweet about the no. 1 overall pick.

How does affect the Bears, though? Well, it’s tough to put pieces together, but I’m going to try.

A month and a half ago, Sam Darnold was noted as the clear-cut pick for the Browns. In recent days, rumors swirled that it was instead going to be Josh Allen. Even more recently, Adam Schefter reported that the Browns are now considering Baker Mayfield at the top spot.

Ah, draft week — enjoy the madness.

So, if the Browns indeed grab Darnold, as most thought all along, that leaves the New York Giants up next. Who do the Giants take? Well, honestly, I’ve said this for a while and I know several experts agree — it’s going to be Saquon Barkley. The Giants haven’t done much to improve their back field outside of Jonathan Stewart, and Barkley makes a potentially high-powered offense that much better.

Alright, so we have Darnold and Barkley off the board. Next, it’s the New York Jets. I have the Jets taking Allen at this point, as many experts had pegged them to do over the past couple of months. It made sense then, and it makes sense now.

At the no. 4 spot are the Browns again, who will take Bradley Chubb — it’s a no-brainer. Let’s move on.

At no. 5, you have the Denver Broncos, who have been open to trading their pick as of late. I still think the temptation for John Elway to take a quarterback here is too great, especially considering he’s currently banking on a veteran coming off his first great season as a pro in Case Keenum. With Darnold and Allen off the board, I think Elway goes Baker Mayfield here.

Elway played the position, so he knows just as well as anybody, Mayfield is the most accurate quarterback in the draft. With the inaccuracy and ineptitude the Broncos have experienced in recent years, Mayfield is an intelligent pick. He can sit behind Keenum if need be, until he is ready.

Alright, so that’s three quarterbacks off the board in the first five picks. At no. 6, the Indianapolis Colts are on the clock. With Barkley and Chubb gone, and the need of a quarterback not there, who do the Colts pick? Here is where it gets interesting — I think the Colts trade the pick.

The Buffalo Bills are a perfect candidate here to come up and snag Josh Rosen. Let’s make it happen.

Okay, so the Bears have one more team ahead of them in the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs need help in the secondary, so I see them taking one of three guys here: Minkah Fitzpatrick, Derwin James or Denzel Ward. Either way, they win due to the rush on quarterbacks.

What does this mean for the Bears?

Most fans will be happy to see that Notre Dame guard Quenton Nelson falls the Chicago at no. 8. The Bears get their dominant force on the offensive line and a top-3 prospect in the entire draft.

That’s it — nice and quick. So, who’s ready for draft night?
