In their first meeting since the 2016 World Series, the Chicago Cubs beat the Cleveland Indians 10-3 in dominating fashion.

Chicago Cubs fans had to love all of the memories that came flooding back on Tuesday night. When the Cubs visited the Cleveland Indians in the first of a quick two-game series, it was the first time the teams had met since they last faced off in an epic Game 7 of the 2016 World Series.

Tyler Chatwood took the mound against Josh Wilson of Cleveland, and the former gave his Cubs a solid outing in the win. Chicago’s bullpen got the job done down the stretch, only giving up one run in a game that was already out of hand, and all but won.

The Cubs won by a score of 10-3 when it was all said and done, and while several players stood out, here are just three of them to go along with two players who struggled on the night.

Studs

Kyle Schwarber

My, oh my, it was great to see this Kyle Schwarber show up. The Indians might remember him well. Schwarber went 2-for-5 on the night with two solo home runs while avoiding a strikeout.

Ian Happ

Ian Happ had an efficient game offensively, going 3-for-4 with a home run, two RBI and two runs scored. After posting just two hits, six strikeouts and zero home runs in his last five games, Happ came up big Tuesday night.

Tyler Chatwood

Early on, it looked like it could be a rough night for Tyler Chatwood, but he was able to get himself out of a tough spot and go on to have a solid outing.

Despite five walks on the night, Chatwood only gave up four hits and one earned run while striking out five. It was also the longest he had pitched into a game since his first start on April 2nd, which also saw him pitch six innings.

Duds

Addison Russell

Offensively, Addison Russel struggled. Fortunately, most of his teammates picked up the slack and it wasn’t a huge deal. Russell went 1-for-5 on the night, scoring one run and striking out on an occasion.

Albert Almora Jr.

Albert Almora Jr. also went 1-for-5 like Russell, except he knocked in a single RBI. Almora struck out a whopping three times, however. After going 6-for-9 with zero strikeouts in the first two games against the Rockies, Almora has batted 2-for-11 with five strikeouts in his most recent two contests.

What’s Next

The Cubs take on the Indians once more Wednesday night as Jon Lester takes the mound. That will wrap up the two-game series with the Tribe. If the Cubbies pull off another win, it could launch this club into overdrive going forward.
