Quarterback

“I still don’t think the Bears know what they have with Mitchell Trubisky.”

“I think he could slightly break out in 2018, but not nearly to the level Jared Goff did last season.”

“I’m not sold on Trubisky.”

“He looked OK, but I’m not sure he’s a franchise quarterback.”

Can we stop with these narratives already? All of these are opinions I have seen or heard from the national media, and I don’t think they have gone back to watch any of what Trubisky did during his rookie year.

The guy was handcuffed for most of the season, given zero help at wide receiver and his play-callers were completely clueless.

I saw a rookie who took hold of his huddle. He ran his offense like a veteran. His teammates looked to him as a leader immediately. Trubisky came out and proved he was worthy of being selected no. 2 overall in 2017, and there should be no questions about it.

The Bears have their quarterback of the future, and everyone will soon find out what many Bears fans already know. The combination of agility and accuracy is going to take this kid far. Add that to his fiery personality on the field, and you’ve got something the Bears haven’t had in a long, long time.

I wouldn’t put it past the Bears to draft a quarterback late, due to a player falling and the ability to resist isn’t strong enough. Pace would not shock me if he grabbed a quarterback and ended up carrying three throughout the season, with Chase Daniel the primary backup and mentor to Trubisky.

I think the quarterback position is an obvious position that is solidified going into the draft, so we don’t need to spend much more time here. Don’t tell the national media, though.
