The Chicago Bears definitely have some positions of need going into the 2018 NFL Draft, but they also have a few spots completely solidified.

The week of the 2018 NFL Draft is finally upon us. All of the anticipation, buildup, rumors, mocks and chatter have led us to this point. Thursday night, it begins. The Chicago Bears have had a phenomenal offseason, for once getting national love for the moves they have made.

Obviously, it began by bringing in Matt Nagy and then retaining defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Filling out the rest of the coaching staff was priority number one for general manager Ryan Pace, and he wasted no time doing so. With coaches in place, it was time to get down to business with the most important part of the equation: The roster.

Free agency went smoothly for the Bears, as they were able to lock down some significant names among the 2018 free agent class. It began when they signed wide receiver Allen Robinson. Later in the same day, Pace agreed to terms with tight end Trey Burton, wideout Taylor Gabriel and kicker Cody Parkey.

The Bears had some enormous holes filled by the time that day was over.

Still, though, heading into the draft, they have a few positions where they must come away with home runs. Here are just a handful of spots Chicago will likely address this coming weekend:

  • Edge rusher

  • Offensive guard

  • Defensive end

  • Inside linebacker

  • Wide receiver

With that said, it is important to remember the work that has been accomplished up to this point in just a single offseason and last year’s draft. Obviously, there are starters in place from beyond just those two offseasons, but a lot of the work was done last year and this year.

Fans should be thrilled with what Pace has been able to do — ignoring a few signings here and there — because the roster looked remarkably different just two or three years ago. The Bears are going into this year’s draft with a lot of clarity at certain positions. Here are five groups that Pace should have zero worries about going into the weekend.
