Top 10 Chicago Bulls of the 21st century
By Ryan Heckman
7. Ben Gordon
Do you remember the playoff series back in 2009 against the Boston Celtics? Of course you do. That Bulls team was supposed to get rocked by the Celtics. The series wasn’t even supposed to be competitive. It was Derrick Rose’s rookie campaign and the Bulls were a team to look forward to in the future.
But, the future came early for Gordon and the Bulls that year.
A 7-game series that Bulls fans will never forget is all it took for the legend of Ben Gordon in Chicago to be cemented. Sure, Gordon drove fans and his coaches nuts at times. He would launch some of the worst shots you’d ever seen — and then, sometimes, they’d go in.
Gordon defined what it meant to be a streaky shooter, but man was he good at it. The guy could put points on the board in a hurry, and when he was on, there was no stopping him.
Gordon spent five seasons with Chicago before heading to the Detroit Pistons. Those were without a doubt his five best years as a pro, and some he will likely never forget. Gordon averaged over 15 points per game in each season, topping an average of 20 on two separate occasions.
He never shot lower than 41 percent from distance while with Chicago — I, for one, will remember him for that over everything. Gordon was lethal from deep.
